this summer holiday,i made a good friend --- robinson though ‘robinson crusoe’. ‘robinson crusoe’is a classical masterpiece which attracted me very much, and brought me much enlightenmet.i really lerned a lot of things from the eternal opus.

the ‘robinson crusoe’have been authored by famouse english writer---defoe. it’s about dramatis personae robinson who met a frightful wind while he sailed on the sea. he was the only survinal, but he drifted to a uninhabited island. he bravely struggled, industriously worked and combated with barbarians. robinson lived alone on the island for 28 years. he experienced many difficulties and dangers.

robinson was a great person, he conquered countleand unimaginable hardships. if i stayed on a lonely island, i absolutely couldn’t vanquish dangers. i maybe would lose confidence for life. i respect robinson very much, he is a real hero in my heart.

he lived on the island for about 30 years without any food, tool or habitation. he must depend by himself. robinson wasn’t afraid of hardships, he had the fortitude spirit .he was brave in adventure and was good at labor. he used his head and hands to struggle all the time. i admire his courge very much, because these were not easy, work at all.

in fact, we also need the spirit of being undefeatalle indefatigable.

like robinson. if we believe in ourselves, never give up and do we best, we must be successful!

robinson was a great miracle, he achieved mumerous. ‘impossible things’. ‘robinson crusoe’ was an immortal novel, because it gave us a courageous, intrepidity, diligent, indefatigable and wise ordinany person, a vanquish nature, a hero who exploited nature. the book is a really excellent adventuresome novel,

there is no perfect life in the world, but we can change our fate. if we have confidences and work hard, we absolute will be victorious, and the most important thing is ‘never give up!

this past december, i read charles dickens a christmas carol for the first time. of course, i have seen the story done on stage a number of times (mostly as a child), and the various movies are a yearly christmas tradition. (my favorite is albert finneys portrayal in the early 1970s british musical version "scrooge.") but despite being very familiar with the story itself through stage and film, and despite having bought a copy of the book some years back, i had never taken the time to sit down and read the story.

so, having bought a new edition of the book after christmas last year, i finally sat down in december and began the original story.

it was absolutely sublime!

as much as i love the film and stage adaptations of the story, the book was just wonderful. so full of color and imagination and description - you could fairly feel the 19th century london cold, the piles of apples and oranges on the street carts, the hawkers calling out to passers-by bundled head-to-toe in woolen coats and boots.

this really is the quintessential victorian christmas story. i suppose im only about 170 years late in determining that, but now that i have read the story, i can see why it was such an instantaneous hit with readers. it was so successful during his lifetime, in fact, that dickens began a tradition of writing christmas stories every year. the edition of a christmas carol that i purchased last year has two other dickens christmas stories in it as well, although i have not yet dived into those two.

so i highly recommend this book. if you have seen any or most of the various scrooge movies that have been made over the years, much of the book will be familiar, but there are a few scenes here and there that i have never seen re-enacted in a play or a movie, including a trip out to a mining colony on the coast of england, and a hovering ride over the english channel to view christmas on a navy ship.

even after all these years of watching movies and plays based upon this story, i was still moved, emotionally, while reading this book, particularly during the scenes with the cratchit family. and at the end, i almost felt a tear well up when scrooge showed up on his nephews doorstep for christmas lunch.

to end, let me quote one of the more poignant passages from the book. the ghost of christmas present has just reminded scrooge of his harsh words about how if the poor are going to die "then they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population." the ghost quoted the same phrase after scrooge expressed concern about whether or not tiny tim would die. the ghost goes on to say the following:

"man," said the ghost, "if man you be in heart, not adamant, forbear that wicked cant until you have discovered what the surplus is, and where it is. will you decide what men shall live, what men shall die? it may be, that in the sight of heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor mans child. oh god! to hear the insect on the leaf pronouncing on the too much life among his hungry brothers in the dust."

that last line, in particular, strikes a powerful chord. how relevent, 170 years downstream, and in another country, for the self-righteous protestations of the wealthy american!

walden henry david thoreau (1817-1862), the author of walden, was born in concord, massachusetts. when he was a child, he always went to the woods and field with his old brother. so he loves the nature very much. in the middle of 19th century, american economies developed so rapidly that most people pursuit the material life and ignore the spiritual life. but thoreau wants to live a simple life. also for the transcendentalist movement was centered in concord and emerson had a great influence on him. all these made thoreau go to build a cabin on the shore of walden pond and live alone to close to the nature in 1845. later, he wrote the famous book, walden, which mainly talks about his life and thoughts during he lived alone in the woods near walden pond.

when walden was published in 1854, it was not well accepted by people. instead it was regarded as "wicked and heathenish" .it was published only one time until thoreau died of disease. but many years later especially in twentieth century, it was gradually known and appreciated by lots of readers all over the world.

this is a book which tells in spring thoreau starts building a cabin in the woods, thinking about life, reading some books, and listening to the sound of nature. in autumn, he cultivates beans, observes walden pond. in winter, the walden pond freeze, lots of animals acpanies with him. as spring's ing, the walden and other ponds melt. every thing in nature is awake and reborn including thoreau. after two years, thoreau leaves.

thoreau go to the woods to building a cabin which only costs $28.12, eating simple food and needing little furniture. so one of chapters in his book, “higher law", emphasizes more on the spiritual aspect instead of the satisfaction of material. further more; he urges people to read more classic literature such as homer’s iliad and odyssey and other great writers’ masterpiece.

he also writes that though he lives alone in the woods, he is close to nature and makes himself as a part of nature. he lives alone, but sometimes he also talks with his visitors who are honest, sincere, thinkable and loving their life.

thoreau also mentions that the noise in the town and the whistle of train disturb the quite life of the town. however, in the woods life is quite. when he lives in the woods, he can listen to animals' sounds such as bird's singing, owl’s hooting, cockerel’s crowing etc. he lives with animals friendly. he also describes the walden pond. the water, blue and green, clear and pure, freezes in winter and melts in spring.

when i was reading walden, i felt that i was listening to a wise man’s talking. the words and phrases about the nature especially the walden pond are beautiful and fascinating. the sentences are full of wisdom and philosophy.

reading this book reminds me of those people who work hard to earn money, waste lots of money to buy luxury and expensive things, waste time to entertain themselves. in my point of view, they may easily lose themselves, and though their bodies are full, their minds are hungry. the real life is to make every plicate thing to be simple and enrich our heart and soul. in a word, just simplicity 、simplicity and simplicity!

one of thoreau's thoughts about solitude attracts me deeply for i’m the person who likes to be alone. there are some reasons for why i like to be alone: firstly i think that living with others is easy going to have a conflict whatever you are best friends. secondly just as thoreau saying ‘a man thinking or working always alone and let him be where he will’. i always spent most of time to study, and i like to make myself busy all the time, so i have little time to stay with others. in addition to, what i'm thinking and interested in is quite different from others. i like studying at library and reading books but don't like pursuit fashionable and new trend things for it makes me feel tired and bored. so i always live alone and people who around me think i must be lonely. actually it's not true. they don't understand me at all. when i'm studying, learning or reading, i don't think other things, just immersing in the ocean of knowledge .my heart is quite calm. and if learn new knowledge i got a feeling of happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment. so i was so surprised that what thoreau said was exactly same to what i thought. i was so glad to find a person who has the same idea with me.

when thoreau lived alone in the woods, people did not understand him, even emerson thought what he did was wrong. and now, people who around me think my life is not good. but i think thoreau’s life was successful, meaningful and happy, so do i. because i think that the success and happiness of life all e from exactly value. everyone deeply desires of themselves life. when you know what the value of yourself is, meanwhile you can enjoy your life according to the value every time. you will find that everyday you have full of energy and enthusiasm to do anything, hear the sure sound from your heart, and often feel intense achievement, the most important is that your heart is peace and calm.

last but not least, i envy thoreau so much for he lives in such a beautiful and fortable nature environment. he can breathe the fresh air, live with wild animal friendly; appreciate the scenery of walden pond etc. while in modern society, people pursuit their own interests to hunt and kill animals, cut down trees and pollute the rivers and so on. as a result, the number of wildlife is decreasing, the area of lake is shrinking, and the water is not pure any more. the environment problems such as globe warming, climate change and air and water pollution have been being increasingly serious. reading this book makes me be aware of protecting the environment to realize the harmony between human and nature.

although i may not understand thoreau's thoughts pletely, i’m really benefited from reading the book, walden.

at first glance, "the elephant man" when one is his accustomed to black and white color preference, two is directed to director david lynch (davidlynch) name, the "elephant man", david lynchs 1980 debut, let me cry.

he is not like a man, not an animal, man is man.this is the theme of the film is also the protagonist is merrick - angle into despair when the last shout, but do not seek to rescue.like the slow start of a film: a beautiful girl in a picture frame, a mother of desperate people, a herd of noisy elephants.with the background of the noisy sound of the horn, a girls body by elephants trampled trampling.the girl, a mother, the absurd experiences in the rainforest, the origin of the story, was brought to the abstract with such montage.then it was a long two hours.black-and-white picture.as people have natural aversion physiological wheeze, deformed body, ugly skin, big head, only can distinguish the left eye and a clear or are left, the beautiful ugly appearance of the sacred heart, night prayer nerve lamb slaughtered lamb.that is the man.

man is innocent, he tremble with fear like a child, he was afraid of his people to the whip, he laughed at, he was afraid of those people outside the window harbour evil designs appear suddenly in the face, he is afraid of even a sudden closing sound, he is afraid to speak.he took a picture of his mother with a girl with an angels face, and then he said sadly, "if my mother is still there, she must not want to see me."......will be ashamed of me, i, i put her to shame......even those who just posturing like close to him, he was overwhelmed by an unexpected favour, happy like a child, he would say: it is really, really so? he did not dare to believe that he thought his life would really like an animal in the lower dark wet through with a weak body, and heavy wheeze.he expected to come from outside the church, he just wants to do for an ordinary person, but the church is not far out of the window, so close that he could not see, he can only draw the outline of it in the heart, to create his ideal to use their own imagination, one for ordinary people not worth mentioning the ideal.sentimental personality signature cold girl

i think that this is just lynch made up by the abnormal people to ridicule the world of black humor, a "notre dame de paris" continuity and reconstruction, with cruel body face to sing the sanctity of the heart.when i began to search for more information about the driver, i find the story of josephmerrick."the elephant man" is based on the real experiences of change and josephmerrick.its a shock and a sad truth.more than 100 years ago, before the real man.in fact, the reality is far more cruel than what the film shows. after merrick died, his body was kept by the royal infirmary in london for experiments. his rare pathology became a problem that puzzled the medical community for more than 100 years.while the film with deformity of dwarf relief and the doctor finally conscience to prove a perfect one, but still unable to save the mans death.josephmerrick had personally made a church out of cardboard, and it was gorgeous and fragile.

"if not, maybe i can please you better and please the world," says josephmerrick.......if i could......if you can measure his worth with ones soul......in the end, the film comes back to the beginning of abstraction and illusion, because we can not get answers in the real world.a voice said, it is a dead mother, she said: nothingwilldie.

yes, life has to go through the upstream to go up to a higher level. the most important thing is to look up to yourself.

donkey, to any person, is a only know things of livestock, tearing throat call every day, also don't know how bad his voice, especially those old donkey, also useless, can kill stew to eat.who would have thought that even a donkey would teach people.

one day, a farmer's donkey fell into a dry well, and the farmer tried to find a way to rescue the donkey, but a few hours later, the donkey was crying in the dry well.

in the end, the farmer decided to give up, and he thought that the donkey was too old to be able to get it out.but anyway, the well has to be filled in.then the farmer asked the neighbor to help him bury his respected donkey, so that he could not suffer.

the farmer's neighbors began to shovel the soil into the dry well.when the donkey learned about his situation, he began to cry miserably and had a cold wife.but, to his surprise, the donkey quieted down after a while.the farmer's curious probe looked into the well and was startled to see what he saw.

when the soil that was shoveled into the well landed on the donkey, all the soil fell to the bottom of the well and then stood on it.soon the donkey ran away in surprise!

this is a very interesting story, the end of the story is surprising, however, has told us a useful lesson: life must be through the upstream to towards a higher level, the most important thing is always respect yourself.as the donkey trapped in the bottom of the well, during the journey of life, sometimes we fall into the "dry well", and then all kinds of "silt" return to us.to get out of these "dry wells", we would shake off the mud and stand on it!
